  I.Lightning protection project background

  Zhong'ao wind farm is located in the mountainous area,and since 2014,lightning strikes and tripping accidents have occurred frequently,resulting in equipment damage and interruption of operation,which has brought great trouble to the operation of the wind farm.For this reason,ZhongAo Wind Farm decided to carry out lightning protection and grounding reconstruction of the booster station,introducing flexible grounding technology to improve the lightning protection effect and ensure the stable operation of the booster station.

  II.The construction of pre-preparation

  Maoming Zhongao Wind Power Co.and Oumaan Technology Group subsidiary-Heilongjiang Hengdian Lightning Protection Engineering Co.,Ltd.jointly carried out a systematic analysis and research on the wind farm booster station and collector lines due to lightning accidents,and carried out targeted transformation.

  The project adopts flexible grounding electrode to improve the grounding environment,and builds a new structure grounding network to eliminate the impact of lightning overvoltage to the maximum extent possible,and eliminates the backlash caused by the ground potential rise.

  III.The implementation of transformation works

  1.Before the implementation of the lightning protection project,we carried out a comprehensive assessment of the current lightning protection status of the boosting station of the ZhongAo wind farm,and determined the necessity of lightning protection and grounding modification and implementation plan.Subsequently,we designed the layout of the flexible earthing system according to the specific layout and terrain conditions of the booster station.

  2.During the construction process,Oumaan Technology Group's exclusive patented flexible earthing system was installed around the booster station in accordance with the design.The flexible grounding electrode is made of highly conductive materials and can adapt to various complex terrains.At the same time,the surface of the flexible grounding electrode is covered with an anti-corrosion layer,which can resist soil corrosion and prolong its service life.

  3.In addition,in order to further improve the effect of lightning protection,we have also carried out lightning protection transformation of the electrical equipment of the booster station,installed lightning rods,lightning arresters and other lightning protection devices,and connected with the flexible grounding system,forming a complete lightning protection system.

  IV.The transformation effect analysis

  1.After the transformation,the lightning protection and grounding performance of the ZhongAo wind farm booster station has been significantly improved.From March to October after the completion of the project in the rainy season,the booster station basically achieve safe and stable operation.

  2.In addition,before the renovation,there were almost 20-30 times a year that equipment was burnt out due to lightning strikes.After the retrofit,there was not a single case of equipment burnt out by lightning strike in 2017.

  3.The project won the 2017 New Energy Intelligent Operation and Inspection Advanced Technology Award,which was evaluated by the expert group and found that the technology is suitable for the promotion and use of mountainous wind farms,and it has a good safeguard for the safe operation of the wind power system.

  V.Conclusion and Prospect

  The successful implementation of the lightning protection and grounding renovation project for the booster station of ZhongAu wind farm not only improves the lightning protection performance of the booster station,but also ensures the stable operation and power generation efficiency of the wind farm.The application of flexible grounding technology provides a useful reference for the implementation of similar projects.
